Welcome to May’s contribution to the 52 Week Illustration Challenge .

Here are my artworks….hope you like them x

Week 19 – Fish

I had so many ideas for this week, and a bit more time to allow me to produce a few pieces.

My second one was a bit of a quick self-portrait….I was grumpy, tired, overwhelmed and trying hard not to comfort eat!

Week 20 – Colour

I had a lot of fun this week, the theme ‘colour’ is so wide….

I began with an exercise I used to do with my students – colouring in a square at a time (almost like pixels) how when far away they blend to make different shades and tones.

This is a photo I took during summer – I just love the intensity of the colours. You can blame insomnia for completing this one!

Inspired by my bright coloured socks….this young girl was easy to create!

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year – this is a tree I saw on my first walk/run outing in nearly 18months (since hurting my back) I couldn’t wait to get home and paint it up.

Week 21- boxes

I had SO many ideas for this theme, I can’t believe I actually completed so many pieces.

This one is multimedia – looking from inside a box…

It seems I have a little ‘black cat’ theme happening….

Then, along came this cheeky little boy, inspired by my youngest son (who also carries his ‘bubby’ blanky everywhere!)

Then I found my ‘sock girl’ needed to make an appearance. I can’t help myself – when the ideas come….they really come along!

Week 22 – Eye

Last week I was prescribed some new glasses so it was only fitting that I include a little self-portrait!

These are the eyes of my fourth son when he was just 5 weeks old – such a blessed little thing.

Inspired by my third son’s teddy whose untied eye was never repaired because now he ‘can see around corners’…..

And for a little bit of fun, here is the ‘happy eye dance’

I am still quite stunned as to the amount of artwork I am producing, but I am loving every second of it!

Staying creative,
Nicky x
