Once there was a small kitten named Coco. 

Coco lived on the top floor of the tallest building on Meowington Avenue. Her days were filled with action, excitement, noise and activity. And nothing made Coco happier than being a Big City Kitty. 

ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR

Laura Bunting

Laura is a children’s book author with a particular fondness for wildlife, anthropomorphics and ice cream. She fell for the magic of children’s books through reading with her first son, and soon began creating picture books that would help recreate that joyful ritual for other families. She has created four picture books together with her husband, Philip Bunting. Coco: Big City Kitty is her first picture book series, illustrated by Nicky Johnston.

Laura lives amongst the gum trees on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, with her husband (illustrator Philip Bunting), three small children, a couple of wallabies, and lots of noisy kookaburras.

Nicky Johnston

Nicky Johnston is an award winning children’s book author and illustrator of over 30 books. She has several bestselling titles published in Australia and overseas. Nicky’s illustration style is often described as whimsical, playful, narrative, emotive and colourful. She loves to work in watercolour, ink, pencils and pastel.

As a primary teacher and acclaimed presenter, Nicky’s love of books sees her thoroughly enjoy taking illustrator workshops and visiting schools regularly. She is passionate about inspiring young children with a love for reading, writing and drawing, encouraging them to use their imagination and develop their own ideas. Nicky lives by the beach with her husband and four sons.
