Illustration Process – Finding Bunny
I am thrilled to have teamed up with award winning singer, song writer Andrew Tierney (from band Human Nature) to create Andrew’s debut children’s book Finding Bunny.
Finding Bunny is a beautiful story inspired by the true story of his daughter Violette when she lost her beloved Bunny while playing at the park with her Grandad. When they retraced their steps, they found Bunny in an awful state. But Vee still loved Bunny regardless.
Losing a comfort toy is a distressing feeling that both children and parents have experienced at some time in their lives!
The Characters
The characters are Vee and of course Bunny…
Experimental Process
I played around with the characters clothing, expressions etc… before deciding on final illustrations. I also played with the possibility of creating the illustrations using collage
Here are some examples and you will see the development!

Playing with the character and clothing

Playing around with New Bunny and Old Bunny

I had fun creating the bedroom scene with collage pieces!

I felt for this book, the collage look restricted the movement, and made the illustration too stagnate.
Roughs to Finals

The final layout

Laying out the whole book roughs!
